About the Workshop

Long Form Improv is an art form that has been in development for nearly a century. It offers people the opportunity to step into their imagination and to bring that imagination to life. Through a structured approach to play, with a focus on listening, responding and agreeing, students will learn how to build and inhabit worlds and characters together.

This workshop will focus on the basics of Long Form Improv and will instill in the participants the core philosophy of “Yes, And”. We will play games that activate our listening skills, encourage us to find agreement wherever possible and enforce the power and joy of support. Through games and scene work, students will find themselves inhabiting characters and worlds never imagined before, and never to be seen again.

Long Form Improv has the special power to bring out the best in people. Whether one thinks of themself as an actor or as ‘funny’, or not, the techniques shared in this workshop will prove that anybody can find confidence as a performer. Long Form Improv ABC’s will take place over the course of a few hours wherein students will learn the very basics they need to play scenes that are completely spontaneous, fun and relatable. We will cover the basics of building Base Reality and some techniques to explore these realities in ways that excite and satisfy the creative mind. The Workshop will culminate with a presentation by the students, giving them a chance to show off what they have learned.

About the Instructor

Eli Wentzel Fisher began his Improv journey at the Comedy Cafe Berlin (CCB) in Berlin, Germany in 2019. There, he was instructed by some of the finest improvisers Europe has to offer. He fell quickly and deeply in love with the art form and has been living and breathing it ever since.

Upon finishing the improv curriculum, Eli did everything he could to find himself on stage, performing for the general public. He successfully auditioned for a place on one of the Theater’s House teams in 2021. Eli plays with nearly a dozen other Improv teams on a regular basis, performing in and producing shows several times a month. In 2025 Eli had the privilege to play in 92 shows. Beyond his time on stage in Berlin, Eli has also had the good fortune to play at international Improv festivals all over Europe, including in Paris, Oslo, Edinburgh, Belfast and Dublin.

Eli developed his love for pedagogy while teaching English for over a decade in Japan and Germany. Given the chance to enroll in the CCB teacher training program, he jumped. Eli completed the teacher training program in 2023 and has been teaching and coaching Improv ever since. He has taught a class weekly at CCB Training School since the summer of 2023 and has offered his knowledge and encouragement to dozens of Improv teams as a coach. In 2025, Eli taught a month long intensive course on Long Form Improv at Scattergood Friends School and is excited to return in 2026.
