Job Summary

Health Coordinator is a role responsible for supporting the health of the students during their time at the school and provides basic medical support and guidance to students as needed. The health office hours for this position are 8:30 am-1:30 pm (Monday through Friday), additional duties/hours will be scheduled to make this a full time role. The position serves under the guidance of the Dean of Students and our Consulting Nurse. On-campus housing, meals while school is in session, and a standard benefits package are included in this position.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The Health Coordinator is responsible for supporting issues relating to the health of Scattergood Friends School students during their time at the school. These include, but are not limited to:

  • Distributes prescribed student medications as scheduled, and/or OTC medications as needed/appropriate.

  • Provides basic healthcare to ill or injured students or staff when school is in session.

  • Coordinates student health appointments.

  • Helps maintain accurate medical records to assure compliance with Iowa state, and Cedar County mandates including immunizations, physical examinations, and medical conditions.

  • Maintains appropriate levels of supplies and OTC medications in the health office.

  • Coordinate administration of student medications.

  • Provide health support and consultation in response to emergency situations when on duty.

Other Duties

  • Attend community events/meetings.

  • Model the values of Scattergood Friends School.

  • Additional duties as assigned, depending on the candidate’s background and skills.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Experience working with teenagers and ability to engage with students from a variety of socio-economic, cultural, gender-identity, sexuality, and religious backgrounds.

  • Comfort offering guidance during emerging medical situations.

  • Ability to maintain composure and remain calm during stressful medical situations.

  • Basic first aid skills.

  • An understanding of discretion and confidentiality when working with students.

  • Effective communication skills and proficiency with Google Suite applications.

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
