Welcome from the Dean of Students

Welcome to Scattergood Friends School, 

As the Dean of Students and School Counselor, I am directly involved with issues related to physical and mental health, discipline, and residential/dorm life.  What sets Scattergood apart from other schools is our committment to community.  Learning to live in and helping to create a safe, nurturing and open community is intergral to the Scattergood experience.  Through weekly student meetings, community meetings, and dorm meetings, students have a strong voice in residential policies and change. We are committed to respecting the inner truth of each individual regardless of grade level or age. 

Scattergood Friends School nurtures a sense of hospitality from the get-go, as returning students are paired with new students for the first semester of each year. It is our belief that returning students should host new students with a spirit of hospitality and love. Students are allowed to choose their roommates after Winter Break, when the rhythm of residential life is established. 

Prospective students are encouraged to spend a night or two in our dorms and fully engage in crew and classroom activities. There is no better way to tell whether you and Scattergood are a good fit. We certainly hope you are!
