Sarah Giffen-Hunter
- B.A. in Psychology from Earlham College, 1984

I moved from Ohio with my husband and son to work at Scattergood in 1999. I have found that it is the most supportive and dynamic place that I have ever worked. I find working with the teens here to be very rewarding. My journey towards embracing the Quaker faith began when I attended a Quaker college (Earlham), and worked in the summers at a Quaker camp in North Carolina (Camp Celo).
After graduating from Earlham College, I spent a year as a community volunteer through a Quaker agency, and then worked at the Arthur Morgan School in Celo, NC for a year. I also spent a number of years working in the landscape and nursery industry, maintaining and selling plants, designing gardens and such.
At Scattergood, I enjoy the chance to interact with so many different people and be involved in a variety of activities. I live on campus with my husband, Joey. Our son, Lake, is currently a student at Scattergood and he loves it. We enjoy hanging out together as a family, reading, playing games, hiking, and camping. I continue to develop a passion for the fiber arts. I like to spend my free time sewing, knitting and making quilts.
