Margie and RachaelI first became interested in renewable energy while taking solar heated showers in the Scattergood gym as a student. After college I worked for a number of years with residential energy conservation, and solar and hydronic heating systems. Scattergood’s current desire to become more sustainable is exciting for me.
My love of travel was sparked by living in a small Mexican village during my Scattergood Latin America trip and through friendships with my international schoolmates. While Mexico remains a favorite travel destination, I've also visited 20 other countries, many during an extensive backpacking trip through Asia and the Pacific Rim in the early 1990's. I appreciate our current international student population and the diversity they bring to our School.
In 1999 I returned to Scattergood in search of community living that I experienced not only during high school and college but also while working in refugee camps on the Thai-Cambodian border. When I'm not hanging out with my daughter Rachael or my Scattergood friends, I like to read, travel, camp, hike, dance, cook, and eat good food.
