I confess that on June 1, 2007 I didn’t even know where exactly Iowa was located on the map. On July 1, 2007 I was living in Iowa – what a strange, but wonderful serendipitous twist of fate this has been! After completing my studies at Kenyon College (Ohio) in 1986, where I was a psychology major, I then went on to earn my Masters Degree in Private School Management at Loyola College in Maryland. One of my goals was to become an Admissions Director at a small boarding school. I spent the subsequent years working between the two fields of mental health care/management and private school development/teaching.
Most recently before coming to Scattergood, I was Assistant Head of School at Friends Meeting School, near Frederick, MD for an interim year. I happened to be surfing on the Friends Council on Education website, when I noticed their jobs posting link. I clicked on it and the name SCATTERGOOD FRIENDS SCHOOL just jumped out at me. Lo and behold, there was the small boarding school, at which I had always dreamed of working and being a part of its community, and one of the jobs posted was Admission Director. Now I am fulfilling my long-time professional goal, serving in that position! What an incredibly warm, welcoming and friendly environment this has turned out to be.
I am very excited to be living with my two dogs Sparky and Sienna in "the cottage" -- one of the oldest buildings on campus (originally a one-room school house, which along with the Meeting House, predates Scattergood Friends School). In my free time, I like to act and sing and have enjoyed finding local outlets in Iowa City for those two interests.
