Rüdiger joined Scattergood Friends School and Farm this new academic year to share his experience as a teacher, administrator and coach. Rüdiger brings to his position at Scattergood several years of service as Director of Development at Saint Ignatius Loyola Academy in Baltimore, Waldorf School of Baltimore, Monadnock Waldorf School in Keene, NH, and Baltimore Chamber Orchestra. He was also the middle and high school German teacher at the Waldorf School of Baltimore for 10 years and coached the tennis team at the school.
Rüdiger grew up in Pennsylvania and Western New York. He received a Fulbright scholarship to study and teach in Vienna, Austria, where he later worked as a speechwriter for the Japanese Embassy. He firmly believes in giving young scholars every opportunity possible to become citizens of the world.
Rüdiger has also worked as a freelance tennis writer for Maryland Match Point. He is a published poet and has run 13 marathons. He grew up speaking Bavarian German and English. He shares his interest in learning about other cultures and languages with his husband Ben and their daughter Ellen Elizabeth (18 months).
