With one year as Scattergood’s Academic Dean behind me, I know better what to expect this year. It has been great to greet our returning students and meet our new students! I look forward to getting to know all of them better and to helping them reach their academic goals. We have a great staff and together we will be looking at curriculum maps and learning more about differentiation and assessment this year. I eagerly anticipate some of our annual community events and look forward to teaching two project classes: crafts and yoga. I am also looking forward to sitting in on Spanish 2 as much as possible to build on the skills I started in Mexico this summer.
Our family has settled into our apartment and we are feeling at home here in Iowa surrounded by good people and nourished by good food. In my spare time I have rediscovered how much I enjoy knitting; I will bring my spinning wheel to campus this winter. I will also be reading plenty of books, getting more involved at our temple and putting in some time at the gym. I enjoyed my surfing lessons this past summer, but don’t plan to pursue that sport. A new adventure is bound to present itself before this summer.
