Health Office

  • Scattergood's Health Office treats minor injuries and illnesses, dispenses medications and oversees the general healthcare of Scattergood students.

Scattergood has a health office on campus for the dispensing of medication as well as care and monitoring of minor injuries and illnesses, such as scrapes, sprains, colds, headaches etc.  The Health Coordinator monitors student illnesses and refers to local medical professionals when necessary.  Should a student need professional attention, such as a doctor, nurse practitioner or specialist when needed, the Health Coordinator will make appointments and arrange transportation.

If you have any questions, feel free to contact the Health Office via email : health@scattergood.org or at 319-643-7613

Health Insurance

All students, both international and domestic, are required to have full-coverage health insurance prior to arrival on campus.

International students visiting on a J-1 Visa are required to be insured by at least an “A-“ or better rated carrier.  ACE American Insurance is “A+” rated and the coverage offered exceeds the government requirements.  Domestic and international students are eligible for this insurance.

ACE’s coverage is accepted at all physician offices and hospitals in the U.S.  This is an accident and sickness program – routine examinations, physicals, vaccinations and preventative medicine are not covered under ACE’s plan.  There is a PPO available; however, students are not required to use the network.

Students' parents may enroll online immediately. To enroll, visit: www.isminc.com

Upon arrival at Scattergood Friends School, each student must provide proof that he/she has current health insurance.

Medical Records
Scattergood utilizes an online management system for medical records called Magnus Health SMR (Student Medical Record). As this is a web-based system, parents have continuous access to their child’s health records as well as the ability to make updates when needed.  Parents also have the option to take this electronic file after the child graduates.

More information about Magnus Health SMR can be found at: http://magnushealth.com/parents/
