All-Community events are a fundamental part of Scattergood’s schedule.  We believe that community is built through a process of living, working and playing together.  Through the course of the year, there are a variety of community events which brings the entire community including students, staff and staff families together for fun and fellowship.

The main events include:

Camping Weekend – A few weeks into the school year, the entire community travels to a campground about 40 miles from school for a weekend of camping, hiking and outdoor commaradery.

Scattergood Day-  In late October, the school beautifies campus in preparation for a weekend filled with Parent and Alumni visitors.  There are athletic events, parent/teacher conferences, a theatrical production and many other special events.

Thanksgiving Dinner – Held prior to students departing for the holiday

Holiday Dinner and Gift Exchange –A celebration of the winter holidays held before the beginning of Winter Break in December.

Sophomore Breakfast – One weekend morning during the school year, sophomores and sponsors prepare a special surprise breakfast for the community.

Freshman Dinner- One weekend evening during the year, freshmen and sponsors prepare a meal for the community.

Coffee House – Held a few times each year, Coffee Houses  provide an opportunity for students to showcase their talents, new and old, for the community.

Intersession- A mid-winter break from the regular school schedule, in which students take part in week-long mini-courses on a variety of topics not generally found in a regular academic setting.

Faculty Follies – A surprise evening of entertainment for the students, secretly prepared by the staff.  

Prom – Held every spring, Scattergood’s prom is very fitting to Scattergood’s character- not overly formal and very creative.

Spring Trips and May TermSpring Trips and May Term- Each year, for the month of May, our community splits into several groups that take part in various adventures both on and off campus.  Some stay on campus for experiential learning classes known as May Term.  Options for juniors and seniors may include, a 1300 mile bike trip, travel to Latin America, internships, and various community service trips. 

Senior Breakfast – On commencement morning, the junior class prepares and serves breakfast for the seniors and their families.

Class Olympics – On the afternoon of the last day of classes, students break into grade-levels for a variety of challenges utilizing mind, body and creativity.

Arts Fest – A school-wide Arts Festival held on the weekend of Commencement

Scattergood Awards - During the last week of school, awards are presented to students and staff members for accomplishments throughout the year. 

Commencement – Seniors receive diplomas in the Meeting House at the end of a silent Meeting for Worship.  The final bell of the year is rung signifying the end of the school year.

Camping Weekend – A few weeks into the school year, the entire community travels to a campground about 40 miles from school for a weekend of camping, hiking and outdoor commaradery.

Scattergood Day-  In late October, the school beautifies campus in preparation for a weekend filled with Parent and Alumni visitors.  There are athletic events, parent/teacher conferences, a theatrical production and many other special events.

Thanksgiving Dinner – Held prior to students departing for the holiday

Holiday Dinner and Gift Exchange –A celebration of the winter holidays held before the beginning of Winter Break in December.

Sophomore Breakfast – One weekend morning during the school year, sophomores and sponsors prepare a special surprise breakfast for the community.

Freshman Dinner- One weekend evening during the year, freshmen and sponsors prepare a meal for the community.

Coffee House – Held a few times each year, Coffee Houses  provide an opportunity for students to showcase their talents, new and old, for the community.

Intersession- A mid-winter break from the regular school schedule, in which students take part in week-long mini-courses on a variety of topics not generally found in a regular academic setting.

Faculty Follies – A surprise evening of entertainment for the students, secretly prepared by the staff.  

Prom – Held every spring, Scattergood’s prom is very fitting to Scattergood’s character- not overly formal and very creative.

Spring Trips and May TermSpring Trips and May Term- Each year, for the month of May, our community splits into several groups that take part in various adventures both on and off campus.  Some stay on campus for experiential learning classes known as May Term.  Options for juniors and seniors may include, a 1300 mile bike trip, travel to Latin America, internships, and various community service trips. 

Senior Breakfast – On commencement morning, the junior class prepares and serves breakfast for the seniors and their families.

Class Olympics – On the afternoon of the last day of classes, students break into grade-levels for a variety of challenges utilizing mind, body and creativity.

Arts Fest – A school-wide Arts Festival held on the weekend of Commencement

Scattergood Awards - During the last week of school, awards are presented to students and staff members for accomplishments throughout the year. 

Commencement – Seniors receive diplomas in the Meeting House at the end of a silent Meeting for Worship.  The final bell of the year is rung signifying the end of the school year.

All-Community events are a fundamental part of Scattergood’s schedule.  We believe that community is built through a process of living, working and playing together.  Through the course of the year, there are a variety of community events which brings the entire community including students, staff and staff families together for fun and fellowship.
