International Students
- Scattergood Friends School is authorized to accept International Students under the US Customs and Immigration SEVIS system.
Scattergood Friends School has a long tradition of international student enrollment. Our unique learning community is comprehensive and innovative. We place strong emphasis on academic development, while also building a close community. Diversity of culture and background are very important to our community and the learning experience for all Scattergood students. Because we limit the number of students from any one language group, we are truly internationally diverse.
Students come to Scattergood from all across the globe. For the 2011-2012 school year, we have 17 international student representing South Korea, Rwanda, China, Uganda, Ireland and Taiwan. International students come to Scattergood to experience American culture, but soon find that they are also learning about many other cultures. The small size of our International Program allows for more individualized attention and practical learning.
Scattergood’s ELL (English Language Learners) classes are designed to help international students develop their English fluency while simultaneously participating in regular academic classes. Our ELL classes, as well as life in our Crew Program, Community Activities and daily community life, help students learn effective English communication through writing, speaking, listening, and reading.

International Student Post-Graduate Year: Occasionally, Scattergood will admit an international student who has recently completed high school in their homeland and wishes to further develop his or her English fluency. This year is commonly referred to as post-graduate study.
Scattergood Friends School is authorized by the U.S Citizenship and Immigration Department to accept and enroll international students under the new SEVIS system. Scattergood does provide our accepted international students with I-20's from the Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS database) and must comply with all government regulations regarding the entry of international students into the database. The I-20 is issued to the international student after acceptance and once the tuition amount is determined for the student. The I-20 must be taken to the student's interview to obtain their F-1 student visa.
