Admissions Procedures

Step 1:   Application Forms:

The application process begins with by submitting all of the following materials to the Scattergood Friends Admission Office:

·Scattergood Application Questionnaire – all portions
         ·Current transcripts
·Standardized test scores.  SLEP or TOEFL scores for International Students
·Completed Reference Forms from Math, and English or Social Studies teachers or an adult
·A non-refundable application fee of $65.  $125USD for International Students

The application deadline for the Fall Semester is April 1st.  The application deadline for second semester is December 1st.   If there are still spaces available after the spring application deadline, applications will be accepted based on spaces available in each class.

Step 2:  Interview and Visit:
After all applications materials have been submitted, materials will be reviewed by the Admissions Committee and if the Committee decides to move forward, an interview will be arranged.   If a on-campus interview is impossible, other arrangements can be made but all students are strongly encouraged to visit campus.

The Interview will begin with a campus tour, sitting in on a class, an opportunity to meet with the Head of School and lunch with current students.  The prospective student will have a 45 minute interview with the Committee followed by a 45 minute writing assessment while parents are interviewed by the Committee.

In some cases, overnight visits are possible.  The family will arrive at Scattergood for dinner and while parents or guardians stay in the school’s guest house, the prospective student will spend the night in the dorm with a student host.  The Interview and classroom visits will occur the following morning.

For those unable to make it to campus, especially in the case of International Students, a Skype Interview is possible.  In rare cases, a telephone interview may be possible.

The Admissions Committee strongly recommends that families visit the campus before they enroll.

Step 3:  Committee Decision
Following the Interview, the Admissions Committee will review all application materials and establish if any additional information is needed before determining if Scattergood is a good match for the applicant.  A decision will be sent via email as well as via post within two weeks or less, of the Interview.

If accepted, the family will receive an Intent to Enroll form, which needs to be returned to the school with the enrollment deposit.  At this time, Scattergood will start the financial aid process.  Admission and financial aid processes are kept separate to allow the Admissions Committee to admit students blind to their need.

Step 4: Enrollment Deposit
A deposit of $500.00 is due at the time of enrollment; this deposit can be refunded only when a student graduates or leaves the school in good standing, providing there are no outstanding bills.
