Sustainable Agriculture Honors Program

One of the many benefits of Scattergood’s community is being part of a working farm is the option to earn the Sustainable Agriculture Endorsement. Students who wish to pursue this endorsement must take five farm-related Project classes over the course of four years.   The student must also propose an agriculturally-related topic for either their Junior or Senior research papers and complete a 30-hour service project on the Scattergood Farm.

Pursuing this endorsement may involve week-long trips to other farms, participating in farmer's markets, or working with PFI (Practical Farmers of Iowa). This achievement is noted on the student's transcript and diploma.
